About our CE Speaker: Dr. Bao-Thy Grant Bio is a leader in oral reconstruction oral and maxillofacial surgeon in Orange County, Laguna Beach, Irvine
True to her commitment, after graduating from USC School of Dentistry, Dr. Grant moved to New York to pursue her postgraduate residency in oral & maxillofacial surgery at one of the largest ADA accredited programs in the country, Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. While there, she served as the Chief Resident at Beth Israel Hospital, Bronx Lebanon Hospital, Jersey City Medical Center, Montefiore Hospital, and Weiler Hospital. She was inducted as a member of the Leo M. Davidoff Society for her outstanding achievements in teaching students.
She is the co-founder and instructor of the Orange County CPR Angels, teaching Basic Life Support to healthcare providers and the public. Dr. Grant is also on staff at St. Joseph Hospital of Orange and CHOC. She has been an active delegate and chair on both the state and local organizations for the California Dental Association and the Orange County Dental Society. Dr. Grant is board-certified with?the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. She is currently the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon to the Anaheim Ducks NHL team.
Dr. Grant has made contributions to the medical and dental profession by publishing articles and lecturing on dental implants and patients taking medications that can cause osteonecrosis of the jaw.? Dr. Grant resides in Orange County with her husband, daughter, and son.

Dentistry is demanding but high stress and burnout doesn’t have to be the norm. In this one-hour webinar, we’ll explore the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) Model to help you understand the root causes of stress in dental practice and, more importantly, the practical resources that can restore your energy, focus, and joy in the work. From self-care strategies to team empowerment and system-level changes, you’ll walk away with real tools to protect your well-being and lead with resilience. You will walk away with new ideas that you can implement on tomorrow in your practice.
I. Welcome & Context (5 mins)
- Brief story or data point (e.g., 50%+ of dentists report moderate-to-high burnout)
- Introduce JD-R Framework as the lens
II. Understanding the JD-R Model (10 mins)
- Demands: Emotional load, cognitive load, patient expectations, schedule compression
- Resources: Internal (resilience, recovery practices), External (team, culture, systems)
- Cite: Bakker & Demerouti (2007)
III. Dental Demands: What’s Draining Us? (10 mins)
- Clinical pressure, decision fatigue, perfectionism
- Role conflict (business owner vs. provider), patient anxiety
- Ask poll or invite chat response: “What part of your day drains you most?”
IV. Practical Wellness Resources (25 mins)
Organize by three levels:

- About our CE Speaker: Dr. Eric Johnson, DDS, D.Ed. Dr. Eric Johnson has extensive experience in team building and organizational development, particularly through the successful acquisition and integration of multiple dental practices. He is the owner of San Clemente Dental Studio in Southern California and serves as the CEO of Leaders in Dentistry, a coaching cohort that supports dentists and their teams in leadership and performance growth. Dr. Johnson earned his dental degree from the University of Southern California in 2007. Before entering dentistry, he completed a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) at Pepperdine University in 1999 and spent nine years working with at-risk youth in Los Angeles.

Most recently, he earned a Doctorate in Leadership from the University of La Verne, dedicating over 3,000 hours in researching professional efficacy and well-being among dentists.
Following dental school, Dr. Johnson was commissioned as a Captain in the United States Air Force Dental Corps, where he received the Air Force Commendation Medal for his distinguished service. He later served as Director of the California Center for Advanced Dentistry and currently contributes as a Key Opinion Leader for Glidewell Dental Laboratory.
Dr. Johnson holds a Guinness World Record for completing the full oral rehabilitation of Sultan Kösen, the World’s Tallest Man, in just six days.
Outside of dentistry, he has a passion for roasting coffee, fitness, and international service work. He completed the Arizona Ironman and has traveled globally building playgrounds for children in underserved communities through Kids Around the World. Locally, he has served on several community boards, including as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club. Most importantly, Dr. Johnson treasures time with his wife, Christa, and their four sons, who are his greatest joy and inspiration.
