Annual Cal-OSHA Training & Update – Are You Safe Enough?
Slide presentation, participation, documentation Based on science, but grounded in clinical reality, this course reviews and updates OSHA-required training topics for ordinary and extraordinary situations, including general safety issues such as physical and chemical risks, infectious disease transmission and control, hazard communication and waste. Learn ways to improve the effectiveness of Standard Precautions, while adjusting for higher risks such as aerosol transmitted diseases (ATD’s). Handouts include useful checklists, and patient screening forms and transmission-based precautions for infectious individuals.

Learning Outcomes - Upon completion, the participant shall be able to identify the need to update or change their OSHA injury and illness prevention program in the following topic areas:

This class blends science with reality: reviewing CDC Guidelines and State regulations for Infection Control. Updates include challenges such as aerosol transmitted diseases (ATD’s) and evolving / resistant pathogens.

Learning Outcomes - Upon completion, the participant shall be able to:

· Recognize and manage bloodborne, contact, droplet and airborne diseases

· Recognize and respond to disease exposures with optimal effectiveness

Minimize the risk of transmitting diseases by optimizing safety strategies

California Dental Practice Act: - Where's the Line? 2017

The presentation reviews the DPA topics and regulations that are required for re-licensure. Attendees will share stories and ideas about violations of the law or questions about the legality of conditions or scenarios. You will receive a useful handout that references the information presented. After attending the course, you will be familiar with the scope of regulations addressed in the DPA, how those regulations define dental practice limits, how to find answers to legal questions addressed by the DPA, and how the California Dental Board enforces the DPA and where to locate resources to further their knowledge in this topic.

Learning Outcomes - Upon completion, the participant shall be able to:

· Be familiar with the scope of regulations addressed in the DPA

· Discuss how those regulations define dental practice limits

· Understand how the California Dental Board enforces the DPA

· Learn how to locate information and resources related to the DPA

The DPA topic areas that the Board of Dental Examiners considers important for all licensees to be aware of are: licensure and license renewal requirements, make-up of the Dental Board and how it functions, content of the DPA, update on scope of practice for all licensed dental professionals, oversight of auxiliaries and independent practice laws including alternative care locations, prescription drug issues, unprofessional conduct, illegal acts, and application of standards of care provisions.
