CDA Practice Support is designed to help dentists navigate the business side of dentistry with ease as it is chock full of valuable resources to help them run their practices.

Drum roll please! The top five trending CDA Practice Support resources this month in the categories of practice management, employment practices, dental benefit plans and regulatory compliance...

Cal/OSHA Training Requirements for Dental Practices - Employers must provide employees with Cal/OSHA-mandated training on bloodborne pathogens (exposure control), hazard communication, injury and illness prevention and fire and emergency plans. This checklist of Cal/OSHA training requirements includes a comparison of the Dental Board of California's infection control continuing education requirement and Cal/OSHA's bloodborne pathogens/exposure control training requirements.

Injury and Illness Prevention Plan - This is a sample plan dentists can customize to describe how their practice prevents workplace injuries and illness. If a dentist has employees, they must have this plan. This resource is part of the CDA Regulatory Compliance Manual and has been updated to include procedures for screening patients with aerosol transmissible diseases.

Letter to Patients Regarding Coordination of Benefits Rulings for Self-Funded ERISA Plans - This sample letter may be used to inform patients of coordination of benefits rulings for self-funded ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) plans. The plan may have a non-duplication of benefits clause, and is therefore exempt from state law on coordination of benefits.

New Employee Checklist - This checklist will provide an overview of the required and suggested forms that should be provided once a dentist has hired a new employee in their practice. Certain items are bolded to distinguish them as legally required for all California employers.

Starting a Dental Practice Checklist - This checklist will provide an overview of the items that should be addressed once a dentist has decided to start their own dental practice. The checklist provides information on finances, licenses, permits, required documents, insurance and more.

CDA Practice Support resources are available to CDA members and can be accessed via the orange tabs on the right side of cda.org/practicesupport.
